Here we are, Friday night, end of the week, no big plans tonight other than the 6 children running around the yard as we speak, ice creams in hand. I guess 6 kids in the household is busy but here I sit with a moment to blog, the first moment all week. Kids entertain kids. They play together, they imagine together, they torment one another, but they keep each other out of my hair and that is worth having a household of sticky, bathing suit clad, energetic kids and their friends. So I blog.
This week seemed to be gone in a wink. There were a few runny noses, a dinner with sushi to celebrate one birthday and a BBQ to celebrate another tomorrow. There were sports. Oh, there were sports. At every game, the mothers talked about how we could barely keep it all together with all the sports. We all agreed that there were private happy dances to celebrate the nights when we saw the clouds roll in and an email to confirm that yes, the games were cancelled. Impromptu free nights mean we can do baths AND home reading and still get to bed on time. That makes for a happy mama bear in this house.
This week welcomed a new iphone to our home and suddenly, I get why people text. I get it. It saves time and it seems everyone I text must have their phone right on their lap because they respond so damn quick. Don't people work? Either way, I am now one of those techy people, snapping pics and videos on their fancy phones. My new baby, I love you!
It also welcomed a new Dyson, a baby I have yet to see. I wait for it's delivery with baited breath and cannot wait to vaccuum every last bit of sawdust up from our floors. That's from Chad's project this week. The carpet arrives on Thursday for the newly renovated sunroom. He installed a metal roof last weekend, the walls are covered with beautifully scented pine waiting for my brushes to whitewash them tomorrow. The floors are being covered with a new subfloor and then a funky berber. The furniture is sitting in boxes waiting for me to unpack and decorate around. I can't wait. Thursday will be the end of a month of too many hours to count invested in this reno. My hubby deserves nothing more than to sit and enjoy his efforts, feet up, drink in hand.
The Before's:
In the last few weeks I have taken on a second full time job, just for kicks. Not really kicks, our school needed some parents to step up and get a before and after program going within our little school. Myself and another dad took it on, full force. There are countless (and thankless) hours that go into such a venture but today I received the words I have been waiting to hear. We will be approved. It will be a mad dash till summer filled with policy writing, manuals and procedures, wait lists and confirmations. We will push until I know the kiddies will be cared for and that my monkeys will be top of the list. It will be worth it, it will be worth it, it will be worth it....Will it? Yes. It is just so damned much work.
I guess that is the answer to my question of where the time goes. I blink and it's gone and then we do it all again. I must run for the reptile hunters are on the hunt and the campout in the girls room is in need of snacks. It's nice to have no plans!
I love my iPhone like no other toy ever! It takes amazing pictures too. Get Camera+. Best camera app. Get Snapseed and PhotoForge2, best for editing. It really is mind boggling what this camera can do.
I have 8 cameras and 16 editing apps. That may be a bit overboard but I love it.
