I must say that the past two months of being back at work, have been and continue to be, challenging at moments. Some days run perfectly smooth while others are more of a struggle. Believe it or not, our mornings are pretty easy at this point. While others may not approve, I set breakfast down on the coffee table, throw on Treehouse and let her do her own thing while I get ready. Once I'm set, I eat breakfast, get her dressed, and off we go.
The part of my day still giving me grief is after work. I am no longer in a rush to pick her up, but I am in a rush to get home and get dinner on the table. I hope it's not just my child, but after I pick up from daycare, things start going downhill quickly. She is hungry, tired, and sometimes downright miserable. Our daycare assures me she is an angel while she's there, so it must just be a special treat for her mom! Often times at this point I'll just end up making her a hotdog or something equally as quick and boring (and unhealthy), just to get something into her rapidly growing little bod. I try to have snacks in the car for the ride home because the construction on Henderson is killing me. I guess I don't know if this is just the age we're at or if it's just my child.
While I do love working and my new job is going amazingly well, I find the weeknights so short and the quality of our time together disappoints me. I am trying to get us in the habit of eating dinner and then getting outside to do something like going to the park or for a walk. With that being said, I'm not gonna lie, sometimes (aka-most of the time) it's easier for us to get comfy on the couch and watch her play. Before you know it, it's bathtime, bedtime, and then Big Brother time.
I'm still searching for ways to make our evenings more enjoyable and stress free. Plus, I always love meal ideas. Feel free to shoot some suggestions my way at any time.
Crock pot. All the way. I only did the working mom thing for 3 months, but it might just have saved my life and my hungry kid's too! I'm not even kidding a little bit.
